Single Female Homeowners Grabbing Their Share of the Market
According to the 2017 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers from the National Association of Realtors, 18% of recent buyers were single females—and that number has been rising steadily over the last few years.
But who are these women? What is driving them to forgo tradition, take control, and invest in real estate?
The truth is that there’s no one definitive profile of the single female homebuyer. These women are divorced, never married, separated, and widowed. Some buyers have children, others may live with friends, family, or partners, and many live alone.
Most, however, just want a place to call their own—and they’re willing to make any necessary sacrifices to make that happen.
