Humans of Embrace: Peter Microulis
On May 13, 2018, Embrace Home Loans celebrated its 35th birthday. To mark the occasion, we’ve collected a series of stories from Embrace employees to share our journey and culture with customers, partners, friends, and family.

With Embrace since 1990
“Carmen was a single mom with two young boys, working in a doctor’s office with my wife. A fire in her apartment took about everything they had, and they found themselves with nothing except a used car, where they had taken to sleeping at night.
My wife knew that Embrace (AFS at the time) was a generous company and asked if there was anything we might be able to do to help Carmen and her boys. In a fashion that has become almost routine, we assembled and forwarded about $2,500 to them to help them get a fresh start.
Fast forward to today. Carmen is the mother of two young adults, both college graduates with promising careers. And though they don’t work together anymore, she still maintains occasional correspondence with my wife and never fails to mention that our routine gesture saved their lives. They were in bad place, about two steps from disaster, and when she remembers that place, she remembers our outstretched hand as the reason that they survived, and that she could raise her boys to become men.
This story is one reason that I get up every day to come to this office, because I believe that we don’t just donate to charity — we save lives.”
