Humans of Embrace: Frank O’Donnell

On May 13, 2018, Embrace Home Loans will celebrate its 35th birthday. To mark the occasion, we’ve collected a series of stories from Embrace employees to share our journey and culture with customers, partners, friends, and family.

With Embrace since 1995

“July 12, 2010 was just a regular work day. Then my phone rang, telling me that my daughters had been in a horrible car accident. Later that day, we lost Keri, our youngest.

In the time that’s followed, we’ve been transformed in many ways. But we can say one thing with certainty: we could not have come this far without the support of our family and friends here at Embrace Home Loans.

They were there for us every step of the way, from the moment they learned about our unfathomable loss until now — and I suspect going forward as well. They were compassionate, they were concerned — but more than anything else, they were there. People who only know me electronically were there with words of encouragement. People who’ve only met me a couple of times were there, offering up prayers. People who’ve become close friends were there with hugs and food and offers of whatever help we needed.

They all chipped in with days off and contributions which helped establish Keri’s memorial fund. When I returned to work three months later, they let me have enough space and time to ease back into a new routine while I searched for my new normal. They were there at a time when I desperately needed it.

While the memory is bittersweet, it is the moment that best exemplifies what Embrace means to me.”
