Embrace Employee Spotlight: Audley Lewis and Tami Powell-Garvin

There’s a lot to love about Embrace Home Loans, but one of our strongest assets has always been our employees. We have teammates who have been with us for 10, 20, even 30+ years. And we’ve also been hiring new employees at a furious pace recently.

In this Employee Spotlight, we’ll be featuring two Embrace teammates — one new employee, and one employee who has already been with us for a while. Each will give different perspectives on the Embrace experience and a little more personal info so you’ll be able to get to know them better.

TAMI POWELL-GARVIN, Business Development Associate

What is your official title and what do you do at Embrace?

I’m a Business Development Associate and I support my loan officer and team in whatever ways the team needs. I’m a main point of contact for our customers as they move through the process. I manage our team’s pipeline by helping to keep things moving, and I assist in developing and strengthening business partner relationships.

What made you want to work at Embrace?

I heard all about the company culture and strong Christian beliefs that permeate the organization and govern how it does business.  I felt like this company strongly aligned with my beliefs and values.

How has it been starting a new job during COVID? And just working for Embrace in general?

I currently work from home and it has worked out very smoothly. I have gotten all the support I need from my branch manager, loan officer, and team, as well as the company as it relates to equipment, training, etc. Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful here at Embrace. I love connecting with our customers and helping them through the process.

What did you do for a living before you came to Embrace?

Before joining Embrace I was a Nutrition Assistant in the healthcare sector.

I’m a certified Health Coach and all about health and wellness. I have three sons and four grandchildren. Love spending time with family and friends. I love mountains, hiking, playing tennis, reading, and serving.

AUDLEY LEWIS, Senior Loan Officer

What is your official title and what do you do at Embrace?

I’m a Mortgage Originator. I assist my clients with education, information, and hopefully achieving their goals of homeownership.

How long have you worked for Embrace?

I’ve been with Embrace since September of 2018.

What made you want to work for Embrace?

I’m not one that moves around when it comes to employment. It was timing, as one of the former managers, Chip Briggs, kept inviting me to consider coming over. I was just in a position to make a change and I did.

What’s one of your favorite Embrace memories?

Receiving my welcome package the first day I came on board. The box and the presentation were very impressive. When I realized that sharing our faith and personal testimonies was a welcomed part of the Embrace culture; realizing that Dennis was unapologetic about sharing his faith with the company.

How has it been working from home? Has Embrace made it easier for you in any way? Are you in back in the office now?

Because I’m very introverted working from home has been OK. The fact that we have all the support resources available, makes it very easy to function seamlessly in the remote environment.

I’m married to my sixth-grade love. I’m a father of five and a grandfather of eight. I love flying kites, aircraft, bicycling, motorcycling, walking, and sharing the word of God.
