Embrace Employee Spotlight: Anthony Booth and Nancy Morley

Embrace Employee Spotlight: Jenn Brownell and Suzanne Bove

There’s a lot to love about Embrace Home Loans, but one of our strongest assets has always been our employees. We have teammates who have been with us for 10, 20, even 30+ years. And we’ve also been hiring new employees at a furious pace this year — new employees that many of us haven’t met yet as we continue to work remotely during the pandemic.

In this Employee Spotlight, we’ll be featuring two Embrace teammates each week — one new employee, and one employee who has already been with us for a while. Each will give different perspectives on the Embrace experience and a little more personal info so you’ll be able to get to know them better.

NANCY MORLEY, Loan Officer

What is your official title and what do you do at Embrace?

I’m a retail loan officer in Southington, CT and I work with borrowers to figure out what they need — refinancing or purchasing — and I help them find the best mortgage product to suit their needs.

What made you want to work at Embrace?

I used to work at a bank that was bought out by a bigger bank. I decided to stay and work for the new bank, but it was not great. I spoke with some of my former co-workers who left the bank to work for Embrace — and they said it was like night and day. A totally different experience for them, in the best way possible.

How has it been starting a new job during COVID? And just working for Embrace in general?

I have to be honest — it’s been a bit of a struggle during COVID. I’m so used to being around other people and working in a collaborative environment. But Embrace has such a great culture, and it is growing by leaps and bounds. I love that learning is encouraged and that it’s not just all about business.

My favorite thing so far has been participating in the Beyond Grit program. It was such an awesome experience — it helped me connect with people, learn about myself, and make real, lasting relationships. And Julie Chipman is such a great leader; she’s the best.

What did you do for a living before you came to Embrace?

I started working in the mortgage business about 25 years ago, but during the recession, I took a break from the industry and worked at my brother’s car dealership in the finance department. When he retired I went back to being a mortgage loan officer. I joined Embrace in July 2020.

We’d love to get to know you better! Tell us about yourself.

I grew up in Cheshire, CT in a Brady Bunch family — three boys, three girls, and lots of fun. I was a swimmer and tennis player, and although I don’t really participate in either sport anymore, my goal is to get back in the pool and become a swimming coach when things start to return to normal.

I currently live in Unionville, CT and I really enjoy interior decorating. When some of my family members were selling their houses, I staged a few for them just because I really enjoy it!

ANTHONY BOOTH, Senior Closing Officer

What is your official job title and what do you do at Embrace?

I’m a Senior Closing Officer, however, since June I’ve been strictly training, coaching, and mentoring new hires. This past year has been so incredibly busy and we needed to increase our staff, so I was approached about being a full-time trainer.

How long have you worked for Embrace?

I have been with Embrace for six years, this September.

What made you want to work at Embrace?

I was searching for an exciting new career, and my friend Susie Dame introduced me to Embrace.

What’s one of your favorite Embrace memories?

One of my favorite memories is last year’s Christmas party at headquarters in Middletown, RI.

How has it been working from home for most of this year? Has Embrace made it easier for you in any way?

Working from home has its ups and downs. The pros are how convenient it is, the comfort, and endless snacks. The cons are feeling somewhat trapped at home and I also find myself working more hours. Embrace has made it very easy for me, though, by providing me with a monitor and as many checklists as I need.

We’d love to get to know you a little better! Tell us about yourself.

I am originally from and currently live in Middletown, RI. I graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2013 with a bachelor’s in Economics.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my lovely girlfriend Rebeka, my family, and friends. I also like cooking, watching sports, exercising, playing video games, and traveling. My girlfriend and I got a Corgi puppy back in June and his name is Luke Skywalker. We have had our hands full raising Luke, but we are absolutely obsessed with him.
