11 Ways to Unwind After a Stressful Real Estate Week

Every day you experience something new when you work in real estate. No two homes or clients are the same, which makes the job extremely interesting — but also, at times, exhausting. Real estate agents wear so many hats and they are always running from showings to client meetings and networking events, which can all be incredibly time-consuming.
Here are 11 ways to unwind after a stressful real estate week.
Exercise
Exercising may be the last thing you want to do after a long week at work, but exercising will give you endorphins and even more energy. Whether you hit the gym, take a spin class, or go on a run, exercising will make you feel better and energize you after a long work week.
Read
Grab your favorite book, drink some coffee, and read on Saturday morning. This can be a super relaxing way to spend your weekend after so many meetings and phone calls all week. In real estate, there is plenty of reading, but sometimes it just takes a good book that isn’t real estate-related to put your mind at ease.
Watch a Movie
Grab some popcorn, your favorite soda, beer, or wine and sit back on the couch in your comfy pajamas and relax for a couple of hours. Comedies are great options for just laughing for a while and letting the stress from the week filter out through your laughter. It is an excuse to snack on popcorn, candy, soda or your favorite alcoholic beverage, so take advantage of it.
Volunteer
Head to your local animal shelter or food kitchen and lend a helping hand. This can be a great way to gain some new perspective. Spending the day with adorable animals ready for adoption and watching them all go to great homes is an exceptional way to unwind and give back to your community.
Take a Bath
Put on some candles, relaxing music, and take a hot bath to soak away all of your stresses from the week. Let all of the phone calls, emails, and meetings just drift away as you relax with a moisturizing bath after a long week. Throw in a bath bomb for some extra color and maybe even bring your favorite book in with you along with some wine.
Sleep
Take a nap…or two! Resting is always good for the mind, body, and soul, so let yourself rest after working a long week. Allow yourself to take a one or two-hour nap on the weekend to recharge and get ready for the next week. Don’t be afraid to focus on your health and rest when needed.
Cook
Pick your favorite meal and cook it. Pick out the ingredients carefully and make a dish you know you will look forward to eating. This is an ideal way to unwind if you have been craving something all week. If you’re feeling adventurous look up new simple recipes and try to make those to expand your repertoire of recipes.
Clean
Cleaning can be a huge stress reliever for many people. It’s a way to focus on one task at hand and make your home look immaculate. If you love to clean, this can be perfect for you to unwind and end up with a great final product — a clean home!
Journal
Writing things down can be a huge stress-reliever and very therapeutic. You can jot down one or two lines about your day and make to-do lists to keep yourself organized and stress-free. Every Friday write down the best thing that happened to you both at work and in your personal life that week.
Spend Time Outside
Being outside in the fresh air and help you majorly unwind. Even if you just go for a five-minute walk or have a meal outside, nature can have a great calming effect. Do something you love outside, like go fishing or jog or even read outside.
Meditate
Dim the lights, sit alone, and focus on your breathing. Feel each heartbeat. Witness your mind and thoughts arise and realize you are not your thoughts and let any and all negative thoughts go. Focus all of your attention on the present and live in the moment.
Any of these eleven things will help you reduce stress and unwind after a stressful real estate week. Remember to always take care of yourself so that you can take good care of your clients— and always put your health and wellness first.
